Eckerd College Drops SAT Requirement for International Students

Eckerd College, a small, private liberal arts and sciences college in St. Petersburg, Florida, has dropped the SAT requirement for international students. All students whose first language is not English or whose secondary schools were not taught primarily in English are still required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. Students whose first language is English or whose secondary school was taught primarily in English will need to submit a graded essay of at least 3000 words.

Eckerd College will also institute an Early Action admission program this year. Students who apply Early Action and have completed applications by November 15 will receive their admission decision and scholarship award by December 15. Eckerd will then move to rolling admission after December 1, reviewing applications as they become complete, returning a decision within 4 weeks of a completed application. Both Early Action and rolling admission programs are non-binding; students have until May 1 to make a final decision about their enrollment. Eckerd College will also waive the application fee for students until December 1.
